Residents in China submit designs to celebrate diplomatic relations with Israel E-mail

The Consulate General of Israel in Shanghai is running a competition to design a diplomatic gift, to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Israel, and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel.

The competition is open to residents of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi and Zhejiang, or students who are studying in educational institutions in these municipalities and provinces.

Participants submitted their designs for either a necktie or a scarf with the required specifications. The theme of the competition was “Impressions of 70 years of Israeli innovation from a Chinese perspective”. The winners will be announced later this month, and will be rewarded with a free trip to Israel.

“So when celebrating the 70 years of Israel, we were thinking about how we could combine the spirit of Chinese people and the spirit of Jewish people so that we can get a sense of how Chinese people look at Israel. We decided to do something that will be nice and beautiful and represent something real. We will use it as an official diplomatic gift,” said Dr Eyal Propper, Consul General of Israel in Shanghai, during a press conference about the competition.
