The International Writers Festival E-mail

The 7th International Writers Festival will take place this month in Jerusalem from 12 to 16 May. It will feature young and fresh voices from all around the world, telling stories about immigration, being a refugee, and wandering, as well as about love and compassion, relationships and break-ups in the #metoo era.

During the five days of the festival, Mishkenot Sha’ananim will host a variety of unique and original cultural activities created especially for the event. These include, among others, literary meetings, workshops, tours, movie screenings, and musical and singing performances for the general public.

The international writers, most of whom are visiting Israel for the first time, will include Joyce Carol Oates (US), winner of the 2019 Jerusalem Prize for Literature.

Moti Schwarz, the Director of Mishkenot Sha’ananim, said: “I am pleased that the International Writers Festival, which is the only literature festival of its type to be held in Israel and which has taken place at Mishkenot Sha’ananim since 2008, will now become an annual event. This is a great challenge that we are happy and excited to take on. ”
