HKHTC presents a lecture at the Book Fair E-mail

The Consulate of Israel in Hong Kong & Macau also arranged a lecture on Holocaust education in cooperation with the Hong Kong Holocaust and Tolerance Centre (HKHTC).

Continuing efforts to reach out to the local community in Hong Kong, the HKHTC presented a public lecture titled: Who Will Write our History?: Rediscovering a Hidden Archive from the Warsaw Ghetto at the Fair.

The talk attracted a diverse, standing-room-only crowd, emphasising the value and importance of HKHTC’s core message of tolerance and unity. The lecture was presented by HKHTC’s Executive Director, Simon K. Li, in Cantonese, enabling the Centre to connect with hundreds of local Hong Kong community members- including many who, through this event, were learning about the Holocaust for the first time.

The lecture focused on Samuel Kassow’s book, Who Will Write our History? which documents a secret archive created by historian Emanuel Ringelblum. During his internment in the Warsaw Ghetto, Ringelblum established a scholarly organization to record the experiences of the ghetto’s inhabitants.
