Israel proposes Free Trade Agreement with India E-mail

In early August, Israel proposed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with India to further foster developing economic and bilateral ties.

Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, Ellie Yishai proposed the FTA during a visit, to Israel, by Indian Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Ashwani Kumar.

Kasar Devi ready for Rosh Hashanah E-mail

Chabad India is welcoming Tishrei holidays with a new Chabad House in Kasar Devi village, which is located above Almora Hill station in Northern India.

The Chabad emissary Rabbi Tomer Gordo, who opened the   new centre, said that the goal of his mission in India is to help every Jew and to prepare them  for the coming of the Messiah.

Carmel School receives WASC accreditation E-mail

The Carmel School of Hong Kong has recently received notification of approval for WASC accreditation. The accreditation is valid for a period of six years, the maximum term of accreditation.

WASC or the Western Association of Schools and Colleges is one of six regional accrediting associations in the United States. The Association also provides assistance to schools located in East Asia as well as in other international locations.

South Korea hosts kosher communal gathering E-mail

Three of Chabad-Lubavitch’s rabbinical students, who worked in South Korea this summer, helped coordinate a kosher gathering for the entire Jewish community of Seoul.

The closing event, held in a local hotel, was attended Rabbi Mordechai Avtzon, director of Chabad of Hong Kong as well as 100 community members. For many it was the first kosher meal that they had in years.

'Sanhedrin' hears complaint against China E-mail

In Israel, a self-appointed council of eleven judges has begun debate on a number of issues including a complaint filed by a local Israeli group of Falun Gong members and sympathisers against the Chinese government.

The newly reestablished ‘Sanhedrin’ aims to emulate the ancient Jewish Supreme Court. Rabbi Dov Stein, the group’s secretary, indicated that they have heard the testimony of Falun Gong members.
