Vietnamese-born Israeli teen gives back to Vietnam E-mail

Keren Te, an Israeli girl of Vietnamese-origin, donated all of the money that she received as gifts from her bat mitzvah to three Vietnamese students who suffered from hardships, but managed to excel in academics despite their obstacles.

When Keren Te was only nine days old, she was adopted by the Ilan family and has been raised as an Israeli. Her family has made sure that she understands her Vietnamese heritage and retained the Vietnamese middle name “Te” for their daughter.

Nazi themed bar serving drinks in Seoul E-mail

A Nazi themed bar in suburban Seoul has been brought to the attention of the Israeli diplomatic envoy. The Israeli Ambassador, Yigdal Caspi, expressed his disgust to local newspapers.

He was unaware that the bar was even in existence until a local paper requested a comment from him. The news of this bar follows a series of recent Nazi themed eateries, marketing campaigns and products throughout the region.

Rubinstein in Bangkok gender equality forum E-mail

Ambassador of Israel H.E. Yael Rubinstein participated in an ambassador forum on 16 October in Bangkok.

The programme, entitled “Cross Cultural Perspectives on Gender Equality and Women’s Rights: Progress and Challenges,” was arranged through the United Nations Development Fund for Women.

Chabad House opens in Pokharta, Nepal E-mail

Chabad has announced that a permanent Chabad House has now opened in  Pokhara, Nepal.

Rabbi Chezky Lifshitz,  the acting Chief Rabbi of Chabad Nepal and co-director of the centre in Kathmandu, indicated that the second location was needed as Pokhara is “a tourist city  located at the mountain ridges of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges.
