China approves Israel as tourist destination E-mail

A China-Israel Memorandum of Understanding on tourism came into effect on 15 September 2008 that formalises China’s approval of Israel as a tourist destination. Prior to this agreement, Chinese citizens were only able to visit Israel on business visas.

The first Israel-bound Chinese tour groups will depart from Beijing on 25 September and 28 September. Altogether, 80 Chinese tourists are scheduled to visit Jerusalem, the Dead Sea and Eilat on a 10-day organised group tour.
