Israeli wins silver medal at Asian Olympics in Physics E-mail

Itamar Hasson, a 17-year old student about to complete his B.Sc. with honours in Mathematics at Bar-Ilan University, earned a silver medal in Thailand in the Asian Olympics in Physics.

Bar-Ilan University President, Professor Moshe Kaveh, announced, “I am proud of your accomplishment on behalf of the State of Israel. You are a true prodigy with the ability to continue to excel.”

Tevel v'Tzedek gets expert agricultural aid E-mail

Founded by Micha Odenheimer just over two years ago Tevel v'Tzedek (The Earth in Justice) is an NGO devoted to humanitarian aid based projects in Nepal.

These projects include making improvements in agriculture, development, the handling of sewage, social issues and education.

India's president pays respects at Auschwitz-Birkenau E-mail

As reported by the AFP newswire, India's President Pratibha Patil visited the former Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp to pay respects to the victims that were murdered there during the Holocaust.

The AFP quotes Patil as saying, “My heart bows in prayer for the peace of the souls of countless men and women, old and young alike and the children who were tortured with hard labour and then gassed to death at these camps.”

China produces counterfeit Israeli citrus E-mail

To many, China is a place where anything can be counterfeited and then a designer label can be attached. Many covet even these counterfeit items, but when ‘Israeli' citrus fruit appeared in marketplaces across Tehran, the Islamic government was less than pleased.

There were allegations that the appearance of the Israeli fruit was some sort of infi ltration plot. Local news agencies showed pictures of fruit markets with Israeli Sweeties bearing the Jaffa label.

Yeshiva University hosts India/ Israel conference E-mail

Yeshiva University hosted a conference held at the Yeshiva University Museum on Israeli and Indian relations entitled Israel and India: A Relationship Comes of Age on 30-31 March 2009.

The conference was dedicated to those that lost their lives in the attack in Mumbai on 26 November 2008 and was sponsored by Yeshiva University's Center for Israel Studies and Institute for Public Health Sciences.
