Jewish High School to be established in Hong Kong E-mail

South East Asia will get its first High School as Carmel School of Hong Kong recently announced plans for expansion. Prior to this announcement, regional Jewish day schooling was only available through Grade 8.

There is the hope that this announcement will attract more Jewish and Israeli families to Hong Kong and allow families with older children a new educational opportunity.

Fine wine time with Consul General Levy E-mail

An Israeli wine tasting reception was hosted by Consul General of the State of Israel, Mr. Amikam Levy, on 8 December 2008.

Nearly one hundred guests attended including: President of the Hong Kong SAR Legislative Council Mr. Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, Deputy Secretary for Home Affairs of the HKSAR Government Mr. So Kam-shing, consul generals and leaders and members of the Hong Kong Jewish community.

MASHAV e-course in Hanoi E-mail

The Israeli Embassy in Vietnam and the International cooperation Centre of Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MASHAV) collaborated with Vietnamese counterparts to hold two courses on “Israel experience of e-government development and implementation” in Hanoi on 1 December 2008.

One course was organised in association with the Hanoi Authority for Information and Communication and over 170 participants attended.

Ramat Negav delegation visits Vietnam E-mail

The Research and Development Manager of Ramat Negev Desert Agro-Research Center (RNDAC), Mr. Yaacov Moskovitch, along with Mayor of the Ramat Negev, Mr. Moshe Rifman, made an offi cial visit to Vietnam from 1 November to 6 November, 2008.

The visit was aimed at promoting agriculture training and increasing cooperation between the two countries.

Jewish wedding held in Manila E-mail

On 19 November 2008, Manila had the opportunity to host a Jewish wedding. This is by no means a common event for the Philippines and was in fact only the second Jewish wedding performed there since Rabbi Eliyahu Azaria's arrival in 2004.
