Cohen addresses Hong Kong's FCC E-mail

Roger Cohen,  The International Herald Tribune’s first editor-at-large and writer of the paper’s Op-Ed column, made an appearance in Hong Kong for a series of speaking engagements at the Foreign Correspondents Club (FCC).

 He is the renowned author of three books and the recipient of book awards as well as countless prizes in journalism.

Kalam honoured at Israel's aerospace conference E-mail

Former President of India and renowned rocket scientist, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, visited Israel for two days. Dr. Kalam was the guest of honour at the 48th Israel Annual Conference on Aerospace Sciences.

There Dr. Kalam delivered the key note address on “World Knowledge Platform- Aerospace Vision.” He also visited a number of Universities including the Weizman Institute of Science.

New Maccabi HK shines in Lunar New Year Tournament E-mail

Maccabi HK is history in the making as Asia’s first ever Jewish school football (soccer) team. Representing, Hong Kong’s Carmel School, they competed in both the U9 (under 9) and U11 (under 11) categories.

The mere establishment of this programme is a statement as to the growth and progress of the community in Hong Kong and the success of Carmel School.

Inbar lectures in Mumbai E-mail

Professor Efraim Inbar, head of the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies (BESA) at the Bar Ilan University, made a visit to India from 15-20 January 2008.

He conducted a lecture followed by a discussion on Israel’s National Security and the conflict in the Middle East at the Centre for International Studies, Mumbai. The lecture was well attended by faculty, students and visitors.

Thai Shabbaton celebrated in Jerusalem E-mail

A Shabbaton was celebrated by hundreds in a Jerusalem ballroom after one week of celebration on 2 February 2008. This Shabbaton, thousands of miles from Bangkok, was also the 12th annual Chabad- Lubavitch Thailand reunion.

The Chabad House of Thailand was established in 1993 with the establishment of the Bangkok-based Jewish Association of Thailand, directed by emissaries Rabbi Yosef Chaim and Nechama Dina Kantor.
