Israeli and Indian delegations met in New Delhi for the 11th round of Foreign Affairs Consultations on 23 January 2008.

The two nations discussed bilateral, multilateral and regional issues, including the situation in South Asia and the Middle East as well as trade, culture, tourism and education.

Israel's Mollov accepts second invitation to Malaysia E-mail

Dr. Ben Mollov, of Bar Ilan University, was again invited to attend a conference in Malaysia where he addressed the subject of moderating inter-civilizational conflict.

In 2005 he spoke in Malaysia as part of the Perdana Global Peace Forum in Kuala Lumpur. The invitation, from the Malaysian based forum, is significant in light of the fact that Israel and Malaysia do not have diplomatic relations.

New location for Taiwan services E-mail

As of 1 February 2008, Shabbat services are now being held in the Sheraton Taipei Hotel, Room 577 located along Chung Hsiao East Road.

Friday night and Shabbat morning services and meals were previously located at the Landis Hotel.

Lipstadt to visit Hong Kong E-mail

Author, professor and scholar, Deborah Lipstadt, will deliver a lecture in Hong Kong on 8 March 2008 at the Jewish Community Centre. The event will be organised by the JCC Event’s Committee.

Deborah Lipstadt is on the faculty of Emory University where she is the Director of the Rabbi Donald A. Tam Institute for Jewish Studies and the Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish and Holocaust Studies.

Helping Hands reach from the Far East to Sderot E-mail

In a recent visit to Sderot, Rabbi Mordechai Avtzon, director of Lubavitch of the Far East, presented a laptop computer purchased for an 8 year old victim of a Kassam Rocket attack that occurred in Sderot on 9 February 2008.

The young student volunteers of Hong Kong’s Helping Hands, a programme initiated by Chabad Hong Kong, were able to fully appreciate the impact of their efforts.
