Asian Financial Forum brings James Wolfensohn to Ohel Leah E-mail

James Wolfensohn, the former President of the World Bank, visited the Ohel Leah Synagogue for the observance of Yom Kippur. Mr. Wolfensohn  even managed to be called for an aliyah during his brief stopover.

He also attended the special breaking of the fast  dinner buffet sponsored annually by the Kadoorie family.

In 2005, after serving as the President of the World Bank for ten years, James Wolfensohn founded Wolfensohn & Company, LLC, a private investment firm and advisory that provides strategic consulting advice to governments and large corporations doing business in emerging market economies.

In 2005, Wolfensohn was named as the Chairman of the International Advisory Board of Citigroup.

Wolfensohn was invited as a keynote speaker at the Asian Financial Forum where nearly 800 Chinese and foreign financial service leaders gathered to discuss to exchange views on trends and developments in Asian financial markets.

Hong Kong Jewellery & Watch Fair opens as Yom Kippur ends E-mail

The 25th edition of the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Watch Fair was held from 23 September through 29 September, immediately following Yom Kippur. The fair continued through the start of  the festival of Sukkot.

Despite the difficulties in arranging to be in attendance and limitations on the amount of time Jewish exhibitors would be able to spend at the fair, there was still a fairly strong showing of Israeli and Jewish owned companies in attendance.

SIIRD approves 7 new Singapore / Israel R&D projects E-mail

The Singapore-Israel Industrial R&D Foundation (SIIRD), established in 1997, is a co-operation between the Singapore Economic Development Board and the Office of the Chief Scientist in Israel to promote, facilitate and support joint industrial R&D projects, between companies and organisations from Israel and Singapore.
