Maazel conducts for landmark North Korea visit E-mail

Despite much critism, conductor Lorin Maazel led the 130 member New York Philharmonic orchestra along with over 80 foreign media representatives, high-ranking diplomats and technicians to North Korea for a historic appearance in this isolated nation.

Ono conducts in Jerusalem E-mail

Japan’s Kazushi Ono conducted Ernest Bloch’s cello concerto, Shelomo, performed by Misha Maisky along with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in early March. Shelomo is imbued with Eastern European Jewish tradition and the incorporation of many lesser known pieces.

Ben-Ami featured at Bangkok Fringe Festival E-mail

A collection of intense paintings by Israeli artist, David Ben-Ami, will be showcased as part of the Bangkok Fringe Festival 2008 at Patravadi Theatre.

The exhibition, entitled “Through a Glass Darkly”, will run from 3 February through 3 June 2008.
