When a Jewish rapper who performs in full Hasidic garb becomes the talk of the New York Jewish music scene, that’s one thing.
But Matisyahu – aka Matthew Miller – is hot, so hot he’s on magazine covers, in newspaper Lifestyle sections, in Wikipedia and even on the BBC Worldservice. His single King Without a Crown has broken into the Modern Rock Top 10; an accompanying video and new album - Youth - were released in March, and less than two weeks later the album was Billboard magazine’s “#1 Digital Album.” By early April Youth was #16 on iTunes' top albums.
