After a wide ranging search that started in January 2010, and that stretched around the world as orchestrated by Ohel Leah’s Rabbi Search Committee, the Ohel Leah Trustees finally approved the selection committee choice of Rabbi Asher Oser as its new Rabbi.

The Search Committee received a very encouraging number of applicants and narrowed the number of eighty applicants down to a fi nal three. Each of these ‘finalists’ had an opportunity to visit the Ohel Leah Synagogue this year, for a special Shabbat weekend, to meet community members. Rabbi Oser and the Rebbetzin were warmly greeted on arrival in Hong Kong, 12 October, at a special welcome dinner held at the Jewish Community Centre, organised by the Trustees of Ohel Leah. In attendance were many from the Rabbi Search Committee besides other community members.
