A special memorial service took place in Hong Kong at the Ohel Leah Synagogue on 13 December 2007 attended by nearly one hundred members from the Hong Kong Jewish community and dignitaries from Hong Kong’s judiciary, including the Honourable Mr. Justice Andrew Li Kwok Nang, Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal and Mr. Clive Grossman SC, Vice-Chairman of the Bar Council.

Gerald Godfrey died on 29 October 2007 at the age of 74 following a five year battle with lymphoma. He is survived by his wife, Anne, and their five children.
