The Maccabi Masters Netball team stormed onto the Hong Kong netball scene for the first time for the Hong Kong Netball Association (HKNA) 2014-2015 season.
The team was placed fourth overall in the division, being narrowly defeated by Kowloon Cricket Club in the semi-final. The Maccabi netball team was set up by Kelly Naphtali, coach in 2014. “An open invitation was extended to players in the community to join the team in August. There was a lot of interest generated and we ended up entering a team of 15 in the HKNA competition,” said Kelly. Players of the season included Irit Balas-Rozner and Ifat Judah, who out-ran and out-defended the opposition tirelessly; Aliza Levine, who transformed solid basketball skills into formidable netball defence, and player of the finals Tanya Rabinowitz, whose fast and creative play in centre court drove the attack to give the team a good lead.
