Despite the fact the Israel and Indonesia do not enjoy full diplomatic relations, a delegation from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry visited the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) in July.
The seven-person delegation was headed by Indonesian Trade Organisation Vice President, Mufti Hassan, and was hosted by senior IDE members, including President Yoram Dvash. The parties discussed the establishment of collaborations and the development of trade relations in the diamond industry between the two countries.
President Dvash said: “The Indonesian diamond market is full with potential for the Israeli bourse members. We are doing everything we can to expand our worldwide collaborations. This visit is another testament to the importance of the IDE in the global diamond trade”.
On a similarly positive note, Mufti Hassan claimed that “This visit is part of a very important trend of strengthening the ties of Muslim companies and businessmen with the State of Israel and with Israelis.”
