Amuday Shlomo officially welcomed their new Secular Studies Principal, Amanda Shaw. Rabbi Pick is responsible for the extensive religious studies that the children receive.
Amanda arrived from the United Kingdom just before Yom Kippur. She has over six years of experience working with adult and early learners and has been published numerous times in the field as well.

"Jews from around the world have come to help" in Jiangxi Province |

On the weekend of 27-30 October, the United Jewish Congregation of Hong Kong scheduled a visit to a poor, rural area of China in Jiangxi Province near the city of Jian as part of its annual Tikkun Olam China Project.
This group, spearheaded by Barbara Thomas, annually provides money for scholarships and continues their work helping to rebuild schools in the region.

Mumbai's Hitler themed restaurant pressured into name change |

Following protest by Mumbai’s Jewish community, the restaurant Hitler’s Cross was pressured into changing its name.
The establishment, located in Navi Mumbai, will now use the name The Cross Café. The Nazi swastikas will also be removed and the name change will be made on menus and billboards.

India's 'lost tribe' scheduled to return to Israel |

In November, Israel will open its doors to the immigration of two hundred eighteen people from a remote part of northeastern India.
These members of the B’nei Menasha community have already undergone conversion in India under the supervision and approval of Israel’s Chief Sephardic leader, Rabbi Shlomo Amar.

Israeli women found carrying loaded cartridge in Bombay Airport |

Noa Haviv, an Israeli woman, was arrested in Bombay airport after she was found to be carrying a magazine, loaded with sixteen bullets, in her bag.
Haviv stated that the backpack and cartridge belonged to her brother, who had just returned from reserve duty. She indicated that she did not check the bag thoroughly before borrowing it for her trip.
