Kehalat Zion, the Sephardic community of Hong Kong, announced that it will now be importing kosher South American meat.
The new announcement will help to fill the high demand for additional kosher meat in the area. Both chicken and beef will be delivered on a weekly basis.

Last Kohen of Cochin dies |
|
Shalom Cohen, the last Kohen remaining in Cochin, passed away a little more than one week before Rosh Hashanah at the age of 87. His older brother, the community’s shochet, had passed away a few years ago.
The Jewish community is located in Jew Town, the area of Cochin that houses the Paradesi Synagogue.

Shofar sounds for servicemen in Asia |

Rabbi Commander Joel Newman spent the High Holidays on the United States Yokosuka Naval Base in order to “bring a little bit of home” to servicemen stationed in surrounding areas.
Military personnel were entitled to special liberty passes in order to participate in the services.
